With nearly 25 years of experience, Jessica has helped thousands of people heal both physically and emotionally.

She is the author of two books:

  • The Loving Diet (2015) — one of the first mind-body books supporting people with autoimmune diseases.

  • Beyond the Shot (2025) — the first comprehensive book for GLP-1 users, focused on emotional and psychological healing.

Jessica is a functional medicine clinical nutritionist and compassion coach with deep expertise in self-compassion-based reparenting, mindset work, and the root causes of an individual’s relationship with food and health. She is also a visiting faculty member for the Institute of Integrative Nutrition’s Mindful Eating course and teaches self-compassion practices at The Healthy Teen Project in San Francisco.

Her professional focus includes heart disease, perimenopause, interoceptive awareness, belief system work, and progressive nutrition strategies. Living in Marin County — one of the few U.S. blue zones — Jessica brings cutting-edge insights from both functional medicine and behavioral health to her clients.

She regularly consults with practitioners on complex clinical cases, integrates advanced diagnostic testing (stool, blood, saliva, urine, genetic, and biometric data), and develops individualized nutrition protocols.

What It’s Like to Work Together

Jessica’s work is custom, combining advanced clinical nutrition with compassionate emotional coaching. Her philosophy: no one is broken.

Where traditional medicine often focuses on “fixing” what’s wrong, Jessica helps clients remember their innate goodness while addressing the physical and emotional roots of their struggles. She listens closely, compassionately, and applies her broad skillset to help clients heal from the inside out.

Whether you need advanced testing, nutrition protocols, or support with the deeper beliefs driving your patterns, Jessica works both sides of the coin: the physical and the emotional.

Beyond the Shot: Inner Work for Lasting Success on Weight Loss Medications (2025)

Beyond the Shot explores the psychological and emotional dimensions of GLP-1 therapy, providing readers with practical tools to build lasting change alongside the physical effects of medications such as Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound™.

The book begins by acknowledging the profound impact these drugs can have in quieting “food noise” and reducing cravings, while also raising the deeper questions that surface once the urgency around eating subsides: How do I navigate body image changes? What if I fear weight regain? How do I sustain results in the long term?

Drawing on her clinical experience as a nutritionist and compassion teacher, Jessica Brown presents a framework for addressing these challenges through evidence-based therapeutic approaches. The book introduces self-compassion practices to help readers break cycles of shame and self-sabotage, along with reparenting strategies that uncover and shift the early beliefs driving their relationship with food. It also addresses identity transformation, body acceptance, and emotional resilience, offering readers practical techniques for managing stress and life transitions without relying on food.

Designed for individuals currently using GLP-1 medications, those considering tapering off, and those navigating life after treatment, Beyond the Shot positions itself as the first comprehensive guide to the inner work needed for sustainable change. It avoids diet prescriptions and quick fixes, instead presenting a compassionate roadmap that meets readers where they are and guides them toward greater freedom and confidence in their bodies.

The Loving Diet™ (2016)

How can we make our life work for us, instead of against us? Can the entire nature of disease actually be a gift? Can joy and abundance be yours in unlimited amounts — despite the presence of illness? What’s the role of forgiveness and held beliefs in relation to disease?

In my book, “The Loving Diet,™” published in 2016, I introduce a powerful addition to health care plans: Love.

“The Loving Diet™” examines the spiritual, heart-centered side of healing, incorporating a new compassion-based mindfulness approach to heal what ails you through diet, love, and trust.

In addition to teaching how to incorporate love into your approach to illness, it provides loving affirmations, helpful sidebars, and prescriptive exercises, as well as stories of people who have followed “The Loving Diet™” and experienced its extraordinary benefits.
