Jessica Brown, Clinical Nutritionist, Stanford Certified Compassion Teacher, author of The Loving Diet

I’m a Stanford-certified compassion teacher, functional medicine clinical nutritionist, and author with over 25 years of experience. I have over ten years of clinical practice with self-compassion-based reparenting and mindset work tied to the root causes of an individual's relationship with food and health.

Over nearly 25 years, I’ve helped thousands of people heal — physically and emotionally. My experiences and learnings inspired “The Loving Diet,” one of the first mind-body books supporting those with autoimmune diseases, and I am currently working on my second book.

I’m a nutrition and health innovator - creating programs with a science and mindset focus to help prevent and reverse preventable chronic illness. My professional focus is heart disease, perimenopause, interoceptive awareness, belief system work, and ways to change the nutrition narrative. Living in Marin County (one of the few blue zones in the US) allows me to keep ahead of the current nutrition and medical curve and focus on progressive ways to think about health. I use various tools with my clients - advanced stool, blood, saliva, urine, breath, genetic testing, precision-based individualized nutrition protocols, and modern biometric tools and tests.

I maintain a private virtual practice, facilitate online groups for my programs, run self-compassion classes at The Healthy Teen Project in San Francisco, and am a visiting faculty member for the Mindful Eating course at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. I am also regularly sought out by practitioners to consult on challenging clinical cases and improve functional medicine nutrition insights. I’ve recently launched a new venture: The GLP1 Nutrition Academy for online practitioner and consumer training.

With a BS in Environmental Biology and teacher/educator certification from Stanford University School of Medicine’s Applied Compassion Training program, I reside in the San Francisco Bay Area with my husband and four daughters.

What it’s like to work together

All of my work is custom - and I treat each client I work with from a unique and highly evolved skillset of clinical nutrition knowledge and skills I can teach for emotional change.

No one is broken, and often, in functional medicine or psychotherapy, there is an emphasis on fixing brokenness. My work focuses solely on helping my clients remember their innate goodness, which I do through transformative coaching and advanced clinical nutrition. It’s a superpower I have - to listen closely and compassionately while having a broad functional nutrition skillset to improve your health.

I can work both sides of the same coin. Whether you need a stool test or a low inflammation diet or are trying to understand the core belief of a challenging pattern you find yourself in, I can help.

The Loving Diet™ (2016)

How can we make our life work for us, instead of against us? Can the entire nature of disease actually be a gift? Can joy and abundance be yours in unlimited amounts — despite the presence of illness? What’s the role of forgiveness and held beliefs in relation to disease?

In my book, “The Loving Diet,™” published in 2016, I introduce a powerful addition to health care plans: Love.

“The Loving Diet™” examines the spiritual, heart-centered side of healing, incorporating a new compassion-based mindfulness approach to heal what ails you through diet, love, and trust.

In addition to teaching how to incorporate love into your approach to illness, it provides loving affirmations, helpful sidebars, and prescriptive exercises, as well as stories of people who have followed “The Loving Diet™” and experienced its extraordinary benefits.
